Project – Fundraising

Many events have been organised to raise the funds we need to build our new Church Complex.  Some are Social events, others unashamedly fund raising such as the two weekly Bonus Ball Draws, and we have also benefitted from the ongoing Planned Giving and Gift Aid schemes which have greatly augmented our Offerings.  Lulu and David raise hundreds of plants for Spring and Autumn displays which are sold to our members and to people who come in from the surrounding area because they know where to get good plants at reasonable prices.

We also have a Summer and Autumn Fair open to the public, both bring in a substantial contributions to our fundraising.  In addition we run Quiz Nights, Race Nights and the occasional dance with a super Irish band, supported so far with a group of Irish Dancers.  We need to find an alternative for those  amongst who come from different areas of the world as we have quite  a  number from overseas, all very supportive and part of our welcoming church family.

The funds continue to come in despite the fact that we are still waiting on the Diocese for a decision on our request to sell the presbytery and grounds to release funds to enable us to make a start on the building the project.  It may be that if this request is not successful we shall have to come up with an alternative plan.

Suffice to say that we have almost reached the halfway point of our target of £200.000 and in gratitude for God’s goodness and the generosity of all those who have supported us, we will celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday, 10th September, at 6.00pm in St. Wilfrid’s Church, Hailsham, and this will by followed by a Cheese and Wine party in our small Parish Hall – tea and coffee will also be served.
