United Carol Service 2011
Once again, John Chatfield and the leaders of the Children’s Liturgy group arranged a beautiful Carol Service which included a mime of the Nativity performed by children from both Children’s Liturgy groups and the readings and prayers were also read by members of both communities. To see young children so focussed and immersed in this wonderful Christmas story is always a reminder to ’the grown-ups’ to be receptive to the Gospel message and to take time out from all our preparations elsewhere to prepare ourselves for this great feast of Christmas. It was very touching to see a young toddler clutching his soft toy go forward to the altar where the children were presenting the crib scene to join in our the activity.
We also enjoyed the duets played by John on the organ with Emily on the violin and of course, the carol singing during the service.
After the service we all gathered in our little parish hall for mince pies and mulled wine for the adults (non-alcoholic!) and soft drinks for the children.
Thank you to Fr. Rory, all who arranged the service and prepared the children and also to the caterers and providers of mince pies, etc.
