St. George’s Ecumenical Service 2012
Christian Unity
The churches of St George’s and Trinity in Willingdon gathered together on Wed 25th Jan at St George’s and celebrated Christian Unity in Gospel readings, hymns and prayers. The Feast of St Paul’s Conversion was a memorable day for two churches of different traditions to come together. Fr. Rory bravely and stoically appeared so soon after his operation to give the welcoming opening, the Prayer for Unity among Christians, and the closing invitation to form friendships over refreshments. The Rev. Jenny Yule from Trinity Church gave a thought-provoking talk on St Mark’s two miracles about blind men receiving their sight, and encouraged everyone present to ask in prayer that we shed our human blind stubbornness in favour of seeking God’s will in Unity as fellow Christians. Well attended, this was a very happy, spiritually rewarding occasion. Thanks to all who helped especially Karl and Val Cassidy for playing organ and leading singing at short notice.
