For almost twenty-five years a group from St. George’s has supported the Catholic Children’s Society, now known as the Cabrini Society.  The Society provides a range of services to children, young people and families such as After School Centres, school counselling and residential care for adults wth learning difficulties.

Here in Polegate, we raise funds from Lent Lunches, Coffee Mornings, Garden Teas and tea after Mass on the first sunday of the month.  Our big event is a Festival Lunch, usually on the Sunday nearest the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven, 15th August.  this can be quite a worry – have we sufficient food, Have we sold sufficient tickets?  However it is always a worthwhile project which is enjoyed by the parish.

In the last few years we have aimed to raise £1,000 per annum.  In 2009 we reached almost £950, but to date in October 2010, we have already reached over £1100 and we look forward to continuing success for this worthwhile cause.
