Coppers for CAFOD bottles
  £770.72 December 2010

We carried £178.72 into 2011 — having given the remainder to the Children’s Liturgy Group to ‘spend’ on Easter and Christmas gifts for the Third World.
In January the Parish Leaven Group agreed that we connect with a village in the Third World. The choice was given to our Youth Group (under the guidance of Annette Wake and David Law — our Liturgists).  They chose the village of Puentecitos (pronounced Poor-en-tay-ci-tos) in El Salvador

Sarah Smith-Pearce from CAFOD HQ (see David’s report below) is at present visiting Puentecitos during her visit to El Salvador; hopefully when she next visits us she will have another DVD and news of our friends.

If you have not already done so please do pick up a ‘Coppers for CAFOD’ bottle from the foyer; fill it up with you 2p and 1ps (we will also accept silver!) and return it either to me or leave it in Sacristy. It will be counted and banked in CAFODs account and, at the appropriate time ( Christmas/Easter), will be presented to Sarah Smith-Pearce (Latin American Communications Dept) for Puentecitos.

Each filled bottle (with 1p or 2p coins) can contain approximately £7. One hundred filled bottles equals £700!!  So please help yourselves to a bottle.   We hope to reach £500 by Easter.
