St. Wilfrid’s Christmas Lunch 2011
Thirty-two parishioners, including some members from St. George’s, met together at the Yew Tree Inn, Arlington, to celebrate Christmas together. This was the initiative of Maeve O’Rourke, who with the help of Bill, her husband, made all the arrangements with the proprietors to ensure a very enjoyable and relaxed meal together, complete with crackers. The conservatory was beautifully decorated and the tables arranged to make the event a real celebration.
We could not believe the amount of food put before us and most of us could not manage to leave our plates clean! But the food was delicious – turkey with all the trimmings, Christmas pudding or trifle, and all rounded off with coffee and mince pies.
Between the two courses we had sufficient energy to sing two carols, much enjoyed by diners in the room next door.
Our thanks go to Maeve for all the effort she put into the preparation of the occasion, to bill for supporting her and to the owners, chefs and waitresses of the Yew Tree for making it such a memorable event.
