Deacon John Writes

The protection of children and young adults is of the highest priority both to the Diocese and to St. George’s and St. Wilfrid’s Communities.  The Diocesan Safeguarding Officer is Philip Wright who is based at Bishop’s House in Hove.  At Parish level we have Margaret Nevill covering St. George’s and David Law at St. Wilfrid’s.

David and Margaret have both received training for their role and one of their main tasks is to arrange for the necessary forms to be completed for anyone working with children or vulnerable adults at Parish level.  CRB checks are carried out on all such volunteers and this is a statutory requirement.  There is also a manual kept by Fr. Rory in the priest’s house which covers all Safeguarding procedures and policies; Margaret and David also have a copy.

If anyone has any questions about safeguarding issues then they can contact Philip Wright on 01273 241203 or David Law on 07787685774.  There is a Safeguarding notice at the back of both churches with further details.
