Father Rory Writes

Responsibility

Our Project: After many years of trying to be of service, the word disappointment takes on layers of refinement. Sadly my leadership has been very costly for our parish and is certainly getting us nowhere fast. The project remains the parish responsibility in conjunction with the diocese. I have full confidence in, and indeed admire our finance team and project leaders, and trust them very much to do their best in what is for them very difficult circumstances. We have refocused the project leadership, so that clearer lines of communication will be established with Deacon Aidan in the hope that a new momentum will be given to it.

Our purpose: To continue to proclaim the Kingdom of God – that we are his people and the greatest good is to work for the coming of God’s Kingdom. Thanks be to God for Holy week and Easter services as they increase our confidence in the mystery of God with us. To build ourselves up as a community of faith, confident to call God our Father, and to give witness to the great hope that is within us. Yes these are great trials but they will be overcome through the power of Him who loves us.

Our Commitment: To trust in God – allow life and through ore daily commitment Gods salvation will have great meaning and hope for all the people, when we touch their lives, never bringing condemnation but hope in Him who loves us. This Sunday 25th April is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life. Pope Benedict has given us its theme, ‘Witness awakens vocations’. Like working on the farm in the old days, how important it was to have the horse before the cart, and not the cart before the horse. Religion can get the cart before the horse, when people are burdened with obligation without first being provided with the grace to carry the burden—one of the particular condemnations that Jesus had for the Pharisees.

God Bless and keep you always.
