I am sure you will have noticed that the fund raising season is upon us. Next Friday is St.George’s Day and is a Solemnity for our church in Polegate. Please try to attend the Mass in St.George’s at the earlier time of 9.30am to make it a real celebration of our Saint’s Feast day. In the evening there will be a celebratory Quiz Night with a local quiz master. Doors open at 7pm and the contest starts at 7.30pm. Admission is only £2 per person and no advance purchase of tickets is required. There will be a raffle and teas/coffees will be available. Please bring your own drinks. Do try to come and support this event.
Next Sunday sees the return of the Robin Post Singers to St.Wilfrid’s at 3pm with an attractive programme of Music for Spring. Our organist, John Chatfield, is involved in the music as is Emily with her violin. Programmes are £5 and are available after Mass.
The last event I want to mention is that of the BIG Sing in aid of Leukaemia. This is on Sunday May 9th at 4pm in Christ the King Church at Langney. This is a Deanery event and needs to be supported by all the churches in our Deanery from Hailsham to Eastbourne to Newhaven. We have at least one person in our parish, Bernard Giles, who has this illness and I know of one at Christ the King and one in Seaford. This is intended to be an event when we can all pull together for an excellent cause. It does not matter if you are not an operatic singer, just remember that God gave you your voice and he must like it and want it to be used! Please try to come, whether you have been sponsored or not, and raise the roof at Christ the King. Teas/coffees will be available. If you can only manage a portion of the time you will be welcome. We are going to sing 50 hymns, but not all verses of every hymn! Please scan the newsletter for information about the other events.
With my love and prayers for you all.
